Woodland Hills Court

The Kidd Family has farmed in Stanton by Bridge for almost 100 years.  David was born at Quarry Hill Farm, in 1970 the family moved just over the road to Ivy House Farm.  Mary was born across the river Trent at Swarkestone and both of their fathers were pupils at Stanton School.

Mary was sub postmistress until 1989 when the unviability of the business caused its closure, David’s father died and the children left the nest. Soon afterwards Mary was asked if she would provide bed and breakfast for a business man from Monday to Friday each week. Soon the empty rooms were being brought into use and in 1995. The original cowsheds were converted into 4 en-suite bedrooms, David and Mary subsequently converted the adjoining barn for their living accommodation.
